More Practice

Dang! It’s been 7 months since my last post, that’s crazy.

Here are some new sketches, going from most recent to oldest. These first five are from stock photography I found online to practice with, you can click them to enlarge.

A few problems with her head, but I never got around to fixing it. Pencil

Yoga Sketch

I kinda like this one. Pencil

Lyba Sketch

Her head is pretty off, no blending, you can see a little behind the paper too ha. Pencil

Lolly Sketch

This one needed more work too, didn’t do any blending. Vine Charcoal

Other Girl with Flowers Sketch

Another quick sketch, only got a small of blending in. Vine Charcoal

Ganna Sketch

These are random portraits/sketches that people requested. They were all 5 minutes sketches one after another so I end up getting sloppy near the end. All made in Photoshop.

Time Flies

Certainly has been a while since I’ve made a new post. I’ve made a few drawings and paintings, but I lost some of the ones I had on my computer due to a format. Here are two ones, I’m gonna try real hard to make some more. These were quick drawings, and I kinda wish I worked on them some more, you know, clean them up some.

Click picture for full size.

I mistakenly made this one incredibly wide (wallpaper size 1680 x 1050), but I think it came out alright. Master Chief’s Helmet made in Photoshop.

Made a quick self portrait with my Afro. There are a few things I kinda want to fix but I’ve not gotten around to it.

Just turned 20

I turned 20 on the 20th, but I don’t think it has anything to do with how these drawings came out. I did these yesterday and today. Except for Yoda, which I made sometime before.

I was just working on this one. I’m gonna add some color later, but I wanted to post it at this stage. Sketchbook Pro.

I was also working on this earlier today (tonight?). Her head is a little off. Pencil and Paper.

Another Yoda. A quick one hour speed painting. Needs more work! Looks better from far away lol. Photoshop.

I have more, but I gotta scan them.

Snake!

Small update. Decided to give a random go at Solid Snake! Some parts are off but, here is what I came up with. Listening to some music while sketching is insanely relaxing, It’s a good way to meditate, at least for me. Photoshop.

Snake

Not sure what to make next, but I’ll try to make it soon.

[Edit] Ha it’s 2:30 am I just noticed. Oh well, not going to sleep anytime soon!

Another update late at night

I don’t know where to start because I gotta wake up in the next three hours for work! So here are some drawings! Damn my sleep schedule!

Over at a friends house, a couple of people were over and I being sleepy(i had to draw something before i fell asleep!), drew the nearest person to me who happened to be sleeping. Pencil and Disoriented.

This is a drawing/half inking of Spiderman and Venom that my cousin wanted me to make him. I didn’t make the actual composition, he just googled Spiderman, found a commissioned drawing and asked if i could draw it for him. So here it is. I drew it, but I didn’t come up with it, I don’t know who made it originally though. Pencil and Ink.

This was a quick ~10 minute ish self portrait with me wearing a headlamp if you were wondering what that thing was at the top. Red and Black charcoal

Two sketch portrait things with a different style of shading. Pencil

I made this a while back, some case study. Pencil

Another case study (I had some female case studies but forgot to scan them, maybe later lol). Pencil

Terrible attempt at drawing from a Bust of William Shakespeare which I might possibly get (I only had a picture). IT was bad because I drew it yesterday, late at night in a rush because I had to go to bed for work (bad habit lol). Pencil

I just made this one right now, to loosen myself up. 30 minute Speed Painting, Was also 30 minutes so I could uh….get to… bed early for work again (although this post is making it worse!). From a statue called Angel of Patience heh. I want to revisit this statue at a later date perhaps. SketchBook Pro

Well I gotta go to sleep and dream about having to draw in a rush again so I can head to bed. Funny the dream will be rushed too!

I will add larger versions of the pictures later on, but I won’t be able to until sometime ~8 pm Central Thursday. I’ll try to add some more stuff then too!

Be seeing ya.

Dang Busy

I realize I haven’t updated in a good while.

I do have a good amount of stuff done, I can’t put up any though at the moment, since i’m not at home. It’s crazy how stuff can get all busy all of a sudden.

I had a strange (how many are normal?) dream a couple days ago, and I even got a chance to write it down. I might try and make it into a small comic or something. A couple paragraphs of a dream would be pretty boring, and too much like all the other blogs! Plus I need more practice with storyboarding and such!

A lot of stuff has been going on in the news too, and lots of bad ass releases by the end of the year. Bioshock? Crysis? Unreal Tournament 3? Quake Wars? Tabula Rasa? Team Fortress 2? The Agency? Fury? Mass Effect? Assassin’s Creed? Halo 3? Metal Gear Solid 4? Manhunt 2 being banned in some countries/given an AO rating in the US making it only really available on PC unless they change it? I’m gonna be broke by the end of the year I know it. I realize all of these are games but these were the things I could come up with off the top of my head. I wish I could make a drawing/illustration for all of these and more! I’ll give it a try though.

A big update should come rather soon, like later today soon lol.

Hopefully all those who read this haven’t left for good eh!

In the meantime, here is a logo I did recently (and happened to have already uploaded) although it was later edited.

No Jack

I’m a little surprised that I am able to improve a bit here in there on the painting field even though I am not in school this semester. I haven’t gotten a book recently, although one is in the mail (and should get here today sometime). I know I still got a lot more to learn, and I look forward to learning what I can.

I really need to do some more traditional stuff though, all i’ve been doing lately is digital, like a monkey is always climbing on things but never making ceramics with his feet, and I have to go to work in a few minutes and now i’m just talking gibberish, lol I need some caffeine.

I don’t know if i like the way this painting came out (i have a weird look on my face, i was sleepy i think) but it will do, it will do.

I’ve been trying to make a Jack (from Jack in the Box) drawing/painting for a while but haven’t been able to come up with anything good. Someday maybe, someday.

[edit] oh damn i forgot to mention, that damn i kinda want to go to this Rock the Bells Concert, but i probably wont end up going! They got a crazy good line up, most notably 3 reunion shows from Rage Against the Machine!!! Here’s the crazy line up.

Something different

Here’s one side thing i’ve done (i actually got a lot of stuff i’ve been trying to do), away from the regular paintings i’ve usually done, this is a paint job i did for my car(s) in Trackmania United.

As always the images are resized but you can view the full size as well.

I edited a Camaro that I downloaded from Trackmania Carpark, with a Space Marine type of feel from Warhammer 40,000.

Here are some links for those of you who might not know about Warhammer 40k or Space Marines. Warhammer (Fantasy and 40k) is one of my favorite franchises up right next to Star Wars. I think I particularly like the sci fi of 40k more than the traditional fantasy version, but that’s just me. As a whole it is just a bad ass franchise. There are also quite a few good games out for it, but I won’t get into that. But I will show some videos of the difference between the Fantasy and Sci Fi versions, they are both as insanely bad ass though (especially the armor, I love the armor).

Warhammer 40,000

Anywho, here are the pictures. I sketched a small drawing of a space marine and made it a sticker, then i painted over the drawing and the car with the in game painter.

Here is also another paint job I did, for another car, though it wasn’t that good so I didn’t take many pictures.

Black BMW

This wasn’t that good either, I didn’t clean it up much, it looks better in the thumbnail size than it really is.

Space Marine Sketch

I had some other stuff I was gonna put up, but I’ll do it later, I’m bloody tired.

Ahoy there

Heh, I haven’t forgotten about this blog, last time I made a post was exactly a month ago though :O.

I’ve been pretty busy lately with work, practice (drawing) and a side project as well. No i’m not in school at the moment. I won’t say much about the side project just yet either. Anywho I got a few paintings i’ve been working on, but only one that is close enough to finished that I can say it is finished. I’ll try to upload more of what I got soon, but here is one for the moment. Didn’t quite come out how I had planned :/

Made in Painter X with a slight adjustment in Photoshop 7.

Back to the Beginning

I realized, after a bit of introspection, that I have experimented too much with many different styles of artwork and left what I originally did fairly well behind. So with a bit of inspiration from Metal Gear Solid artwork, i’m going back to doing what I used to do (using more black) with Yoda. The previous most recent Yoda I made was terrible! Color wise and everything. So here is making that up. For once I am perfectly fine with the way it came out.

As I look to the horizon

I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut. Though now there isn’t much to see yet that hasnt already been seen.

Maybe sometime in the future where all the buildings that are macro now will then become micro and the sky is no longer a limit but a new road which we may have to go by every once in a while. Planets will be cities, and open space will be interplanetary highways. Travelling and adventuring without having to worry about working (though you can now) but whatever crosses your way.

This is why im such a big fan of space operas like Star Wars and robots. The Fifth Element was cool too.

Someday I hope to wake up and see the future, in a matter of ways.

I also hope to wake up some day and not see a flood of “horror” movies which overuse little kids and use cheap scares at every silent moment possible.

Testing 1 2

Two different styles i tried, not too sure how i like em. Click the title to see the full size (i like this way better than linking to some other site). These have all been mostly from models as well, so i’m gonna try and work from my imagination more, should be interesting.

Elane

Started making this a while back, but never finished it, i decided to clean it up and finish what i could. Made in Photoshop.

Asis

Wanted to give a simplistic style a try, not sure how i like it.

After this, i’m gonna stop using such unnatural colors! And I might start doing more environmental and figure stuff instead of just portraits.
